Top 5 Evergreen Cartoons That Are Still Favorite To You

“Hey there everybody, it’s a looneyful day

To have a little fun the Baby Looney Tunes way

There’s lots to do at Granny’s house

Games to play and balls to bounce

Let’s jump and slide and holler, hurray!…”

It is a bright sunny day. Let’s say I have the privilege of enjoying breakfast served in bed. I take a spoonful of Kellogg’s chocos soaked in cold milk and gulp it down with leisure. The theme song of The Looney Toons show is streaming on television. Whatta life!

The above elucidation gives a picture of how a usual vacation morning would start for me. However, entering adulthood has stripped me of these privileges. Instead, this adult here has been asked to write an article on the top five evergreen cartoons.

Keep scrolling this article to relive the lost days of innocence.

The Top 5 Evergreen Cartoons That You Can Never Forget

Remember? Hurrying back home from school so that you do not miss the repeat telecast of your favorite cartoon? All the 90’s kids will nod in affirmation.

However, with the advent of video games, modern cartoons, and YouTube, kids no longer get charmed with these old cartoons. But hey, does that mean we don’t remember them?

We sure do.

Here’s a listing of the 5 best evergreen cartoons that you can watch with your kids.

1. Tom & Jerry

The OG of cartoons.

Tom & Jerry is prolly the first ever cartoon that all of us have ever watched, or still watch. Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, it was aired for the first time around the 1940s. With its simple storyline and slapstick humor, this cartoon came to be known as a major element of pop culture.

The storyline being, the cat named Tom is constantly trying to chase the mouse, Jerry. Both of them reside in the same house. Jerry’s pranks on Tom and teasing him afterward on not being able to catch him does evoke some giggles.

The best part of the show is that it is based mostly upon the background scores and different stories, along with less to no dialogue. Did you know?

Tom & Jerry is the first cartoon to have won an Oscar for the Best Short Subject Category in 1942.

2. Spongebob SquarePants

The cartoon series Spongebob SquarePants first aired on the 1st of May, 1999, under the creation of Stephen Hillenburg. No doubt it bagged in nothing but appreciation from the very first day of its existence.

The storyline is based on the adventures of a yellow-colored sea sponge who wears square pants. Therefore, the name SpongeBob SquarePants. He lives in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and works as a cook at Krusty Krab

His friends include Mr. Krabs, Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, Gary, Karen, Mrs. Puff, Squidward, King Neptune, etc, with whom he experiences wild adventures at Bikini Bottom.

3. The Looney Tunes

This American cartoon came to existence somewhere between 1930 to 1969, under the production of The Warner Bros. You know what is so special about this particular cartoon?

It was a product of the Golden Age of  American Animation, and was replete with an anarchic style and irrelevant humor. The storyline revolves around different animals coexisting in the same house that belongs to their ‘Granny’. The storyline primarily focuses on basic human things, such as love, friendship, & work.

The best part of the show is that some characters & locations, were caricatures of famous locations or people.

4. Scooby Doo

‘Scooby dooby doo , where are you?’

The Scooby-Doo show is the most popular cartoon in the genre of mystery comedy. It was first aired in 1969, and just like Tom & Jerry doesn’t seem to go anywhere, anytime soon.

The storyline is very lucid. Doing justice to the genre of mystery, the story revolves around the adventures of Scooby doo, who is a doggo, btw. Scooby doo has his own group of friends to accompany him on his adventures: Fred, Velma, Daphne, and his best friend Shaggy.

It has nominations for several awards and has even won a few, which include 3 Daytime Emmy Awards

5. Oggy And The Cockroaches

Oggy and the ‘three’ Cockroaches, happens to be a French cartoon series that was first aired in the year 1998. Jean-Yves Raimbaud was the original creator of the cartoon. Because of the insane popularity, this cartoon had gained, it was translated into 20 different languages.

The storyline is based on a ‘blue’ colored cat named Oggy and the 3 mischievous cockroaches: Dee Dee, Marky & Joey. With the funniest narration going on in the background,  Oggy tries to chase his roomies out of the house, every day.

It is only obvious that he fails every day, but the constant chase between them is an absolute delight to watch.

Conclusion

What a nostalgic ride that was! Simply talking about these evergreen cartoons took me back to those good ‘ol days. I almost asked a fellow colleague for my bowl of chocolate with cold milk. To which she gave me a strange smirk.

Can I tell you something? But don’t tell anyone.

I still sometimes binge-watch episodes from my favorite cartoons whenever I get too bored with those complex ‘adult’ tv shows. Apart from the above-mentioned cartoons, why don’t you tell us about your favorite picks?
