1. COD

You may see the terms “cash on delivery.” The most common term is “COD” in the delivery function of the business when a buyer pays cash for a product once they receive the service or the product counter display boxes

2. Tendered To Delivery Service Provider

If you receive a message that a “tendered to delivery service provider,” for instance, it implies the item or package has been delivered to the local post office closest to you.

The local post office occasionally receives the package from the courier service according to the address. The recipient get the information about the location of the package at the nearby post office.

3. FCA

FCA stands for the free carrier. If the delivery is held under the seller’s location or any other 

location that is under the salesperson’s control. However, if the delivery is sent to another place that is not under the seller,  the salesperson is not responsible for the product. 

In this case, the buyers have the responsibility for loading the product and delivering it. 

4. In Transit

The phrase “in transit” refers to the product being transported from one location to another. Sometimes, people mix up the terms “in terms” and “on transit.” Let’s be clear: when we say a thing is “in transit,” we mean it is travelling from one location to another.

Contrarily, being “on transit” refers to using public transportation like trains and buses. Transit refers to travel on this note.

5. Item Is Currently In Transit To The Destination

You may receive the tracking message “item is currently in transit to the destination” which means the parcel is ready to ship to the delivery location. On the other hand,  it also refers to the product being shipped to the nearest post office to be sent to the customer’s address. 

6. DAT

What is the meaning of DAT? It is an acronym for Delivered At Terminal. In this term, the seller expends all the cost of transport.  The seller has the responsibility to take all risks until the order reaches its destination. 

7. Origin Post Is Preparing Shipment

What does the “origin post is preparing shipment” mean? E-commerce sites use these words to denote deliveries to the U.S. A manifest of every single package, together with tracking numbers, is listed when all the goods and parcels are combined with being delivered to a single nation.

In this instance, the tracking number makes it simple to follow the product. In the US, the post office typically uses it. If the mails or packages are running late for shipping, “origin post is preparing shipment” at that moment.

8. Out For Delivery

Most common terms in the shipping and delivery process. We may all be familiar with this term. “Out for delivery” – this term refers to when the product is out for hand over to the customers. 

Today, we all buy products from e-commerce sites. Those online e-commerce platforms usually use this term.

9. AP

AP- this term refers to “delivered at place”. When the delivery partner delivers the product to the destination, this term refers to this process. Under AP terms, the seller is responsible for paying all expenses of carriage and terminal expenses. 

Under this term, the seller completes all formalities and legal processes at their own expense.
